Frequently Asked Questions

Below you will find answers to the most commonly asked questions we receive here at CIT. However, if your question is not listed here be sure to contact one of our helpful, professional office staff or Mr. Harold Durbin at College Of Instrument Technology - 562-925-1785.

1. Do I qualify for your Green Job Programs? Normally, if you have a clean criminal record, a reasonable driving record, can pass a simple 12-minute entrance exam, and have good hand-eye coordination, you have a very good chance of being accepted. However, each individual case is judged independently.

2. How long is the course? There are many Hands-On Green Job courses that vary in length from 8 to 24 weeks.  Select a class and see what the length is. Most are only 12 weeks (82 days).

3. How much does the course cost? Again, each course is priced separately. Check each class or contact the college directly for precise information. 85% of CIT students qualify to Train and Certify at little or no cost.  Most returning Veterans normally qualify for CIT classes. It may be to your advantage to come to Southern California for your training. If you qualify, here in California, you may receive over $2100 a month in living expenses, plus approximately $450 a week in unemployment.

4. Do you assist me in finding a Green Job when I graduate? YES! Absolutely!  CIT has won awards for over 80% job placement during the last 7 years!

5. Do Homeland Security rules affect job ?

6. What is the job placement rate?

7. What percent of grads had job offers?

8. What percent of grads earn, entry level, over $40,000 with overtime?

Before starting or signing up with any public, ROP, city, community, state or private college course or job training ask for their two year audited job placement rate in writing, verifying an over 70% job placement rate. For the past 25 years CIT has had over a 70% job placement rate?
